Meet your Teacher

Hello, my name is Taylor. I am an experienced pool player and teacher. Pool has been a passion of mine since 2013, and I want to share that passion with you.

When you take a lesson with me, I quickly assess your skill level and design our time to help you improve the exact skills needed to take your game to the next level.

My Story

I was born and raised in Durango, Colorado. Believe it or not, my family didn't have a pool table at home. My first time playing was around the age of 10 at the local recreation center. I was on the swim team, and my brother and I would sometimes have to wait for our mom to come pick us up after practice. The equipment wasn't very nice, but it was good enough for us. I immediately fell in love with the game, and from that point on I would take any opportunity I could to find a table to play on.

When I turned 21, I immediately fell back in love with the game. I started going to a local spot with free pool and playing as many hours as I could. Within a few months, I joined an APA (American Poolplayers Association) league team.

I started playing 8-ball as an APA 4, and within a few years of competition I advanced to a 7. After a while I left that league and started  playing cash tournaments around the Denver area, to get experience playing with more advanced players. I lost a lot, but I learned from my losses. Around 6 years into my pool career, I started taking lessons from a local semi-pro player. That's when my game really took off. I started to actually win some of the cash tournaments I had been playing, and I was recruited to join a weekly NAPA (North American Poolshooters Association) team with a group of other advanced players.

Eventually I started directing tournaments at some of my favorite pool halls, and I formed friendships with some of the best players in Colorado. I've finally become an expert at the game of pool. But I haven't stopped there. I have the attitude of a life-long learner, and I am always working on improving my game. Through the ups and downs of competition, my goal remains the same: to learn as much as I can about this beautiful game.

If you are also looking to learn as much as you can about pool, I can help. Teaching pool has quickly become a passion for me that rivals my passion for competition. I have a background as a teacher/coach in many other activities such as math, Spanish, coding, swimming, water polo, skiing, and chess. I have always enjoyed teaching, but by far my favorite subject to teach is pool. I love explaining the many nuances of this beautiful game. Seeing my students light up as they achieve a goal or learn a new piece of the puzzle brings me joy and satisfaction.

I specialize in teaching beginner and intermediate-level players. Whether you've only played a few games or you're an APA 4/5 looking to level up, I can help. I'll meet you right where you are, and we'll work together to add new skills and knowledge to your game.
